Today, June 13th 2013, the weather and news stations in the northeast are all a buzz regarding the potential for severe weather. They have repeatedly used the word derecho. So, I thought I’d check A Dictionary of Civil, Water Resources & Environmental Engineering to learn what a derecho is?
DERECHO – Widespread and usually fast-moving windstorm associated with convection.
So now you know! Some might think this post a bit off topic regarding the PE Civil exam, but it really isn’t. The point is to demonstrate that you may come across a word or two you may not be familiar with on the exam and this is where A Dictionary of Civil, Water Resources & Environmental Engineering will come in handy.
